It's time to begin your safari. Welcome to Tanzania! After we greet you and provide you with the trip briefing, we'll take you out to help you discover why so many people think Tanzania is the best place in Africa to go on safari.

You won’t find any more beautiful corner of the Rift Valley than Arusha National Park. Yes, you’ll see wildlife – giraffe, zebra and buffalo are present and the birdlife is wonderfully varied. But it’s the scenery here that most travelers remember, from the near-perfect volcanic cone that crowns the summit of Mt Meru to the Ngurdoto Crater, which often goes by the name of ‘Little Ngorongoro’. And by focusing on the scenery rather than the animals, your visit to Arusha National Park nicely complements the other parks of Tanzania’s northern safari circuit.

Tarangire National Park

Explore one of Tanzania’s most rewarding national parks, a land of big baobab trees, big elephants and big cats. No wonder this ends up being the favorite park in Tanzania for many visitors. Sightings of wildebeest, giraffes, hippos, buffaloes, baboons, vervet monkeys and zebras are also almost guaranteed. Lions are plentiful here – Tarangire is home to one of Tanzania’s healthiest lion populations. While you’ll have to work a little harder to see a cheetah or leopard, it will only enhance your excitement when you do. You can also look forward to classic safari scenery – savannah plains, river woodlands and rocky hills.

On your guided game drive this morning your expert guide will help you try and find lions, elephants and many of the other animals for which Tarangire National Park is famous.

Wake up to the sound of birds despite being in the busy town of Karatu. At Bougainvillea Safari Lodge you're surrounded by green gardens and palm trees, and the facilities include a swimming pool, shop and restaurant. Day 3 & 4

Serengeti National Park

Discover just why so many safari visitors fall in love with the Serengeti. Keep an eye out for big cats, even bigger elephants, and almost every kind of safari wildlife you can imagine. You might also see giraffe, impala, zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, hundreds of species of birds, and that may all just be before breakfast. You’ll never forget watching these animals interact, whether you see a hunt, a vast herd or a mother protecting her cub or calf. The Serengeti’s scenery is also unforgettable – observe Africa’s iconic acacia trees, the park’s golden grasslands and great piles of boulders known as kopjes.

Going on a guided game drive in Serengeti National Park is an incredible safari experience. This morning your guide will help look for big cats, elephants and many other different animals as you explore the Serengeti's famed savannah grasslands.

Come with us this morning for a guided game drive. We love showing off the landscapes and wildlife of Serengeti National Park, and part of the excitement is about never quite knowing which animals are going to appear.

Early Morning

There are no better views in Tanzania than the ones you'll enjoy on your dawn balloon ride over the Serengeti. Viewing the scenery and wildlife from above is an amazing experience.

The amazing wildlife of the central Serengeti often passes right by your tent when you stay with us at Baobab Serengeti Camp, the camp is right by the often-dry Orangi River. At night, lions often roar close by and lying in bed and listening is a real Serengeti highlight. The supremely comfortable safari tents are complemented by a dining and a lounge tent. The nightly campfire is watched over by an incredible night sky.

Day 5

Ngorongoro Highlands

There's so much to look forward to when you visit the Ngorongoro Highlands. It's a world of cool-climate forests and views of craters and cliffs that come into focus through the trees. Watch also for the wildlife that lives in the forest, such as elephants and buffaloes, and leopards if you're very lucky.

In a wonderfully quiet setting surrounded by trees, Embalakai Ngorongoro Camp has one of the more tranquil locations in the Ngorongoro area. Here you'll sleep in safari tents with rustic wooden furnishings and fine views. The public area, with bar and dining area, looks out over the treetop canopy, and you're well-placed for trips into the crater or to a nearby Maasai village.

Day 6

Ngorongoro Crater

You never forget the first time you see Ngorongoro Crater from above. Looking out from the rim of this extraordinary volcanic crater is like gazing down upon a lost world of wildlife and astonishing beauty. The drive down into the crater will be just as special, taking you down onto the crater floor where nature rules and no human being may pass the night. You'll spend the best part of a day exploring this remarkable place, seeing its lions, hyenas, black rhinos, elephants, flamingos and so much more. And when it comes time to leave, you'll keep looking back over your shoulder trying to hold these experiences in your memory.

This morning it's time for you to enjoy an amazing safari experience as you go on a guided game drive through Ngorongoro Crater. Watch for animals that might include black rhinos, spotted hyenas and lions as your guide shows you around the crater floor.

Lake Manyara National Park

Your next safari stop is Lake Manyara, a fantastic and relatively compact park. There is so much to look forward to here. To start with, there's the dramatic scenery of cliffs, forest and lake all in a relatively small area. You're also in for a treat when it comes to wildlife. Lake Manyara is famous for its elephants that roam the forests, its gregarious troops of olive baboons, and its lions which, unusually, climb trees. It's a unique combination that offers something a little different to the other parks in Tanzania's north.

Much as we'd like your tour with us to last forever, sadly today marks the end of your safari. Having shared so many wonderful experiences together, it's time to say goodbye and look back together on an amazing safari. We hope that you'll come back to travel with us again one day.
